How to Choose the Right Diet for You

Hello Dear One!

I slightly unknowingly set off a powder keg on social media the other day over acknowledging how I feel the LABELING of certain things as VEGAN can give a skewed view on what the actuality of an item contains.

I was referencing Vegan desserts and the assumption that they are somehow better for the body (or waistline!) not always being true.

But what it made me realize is that WE (ME) do this in MANY ways with many approaches to fat loss, fitness, and health is a way that ends up not serving us.

THEORY CAN BE RADICALLY DIFFERENT THAN PRACTICE.

The other day a girlfriend mentioned a highly interesting and informative podcast that speaks to my realm of expertise that I might be inclined to check out.

I actually already had.  (Because I want to learn more too!)

I had disagreed with several things, had found a couple nice sound bites of reinforcement for my approach to fat burning, and also learned something new that felt super useful for amping up fat burning during a workout.

But I had to DISSEMINATE that crap.

Which to the casual consumer would have potentially felt overwhelming, confusing, and NOT easily usable.

Sometimes what sounds like a good idea ISN’T.

Sometimes deciding to go, “Vegan”, (we’ll keep throwing this approach to food under the bus for example’s sake) isn’t the best idea for you.

Or for your GOALS.

Things to Factor in when Evaluating CHANGE:

1. How well do you understand this system?

So many of us jump in with a small amount of the shiny knowledge that caught our attention in in the first place and make bold declarations and long term plans from that place.

Without actually knowing the whole story.

I have to go shopping daily?  I need to cook for hours more than in the past?  This is going to double (or triple) my grocery bill?  What do I eat out?  WHERE do I eat out?  How does this work at family gatherings?  I was so hungry yesterday afternoon but didn’t have anything supportive around me so I ate potato chips because they were vegan…

NO.

2. What is your ultimate goal?

When people say they want to get HEALTHY that is not a clear goal.

Does that mean eat less processed foods?  Or sugar?  Or carbs?  Or animal products?? (vegan example)

You’d like to have less inflammation in your body and have lab results reflect improved blood levels of concerning markers (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar)?  To perhaps lower/get off medications you’re on?

Do you want to have more energy, sounder sleep, and a more comfortable body in general?

Do you want to LOSE WEIGHT??

Truth is you COULD potentially get ALL of those needs met (ahem, in Fat Burning PRO), but all diets are not necessarily all things.

So be super clear on what you ACTUALLY and ULTIMATELY want and make sure your choice can fulfill that desire.

And lastly, but incredibly consequentially…

3. Is this practical for daily life??

Can you do this day after day both EASILY and PLEASURABLY??

Will this actually be an advantage as a lifestyle or a total inconvenience?

This matters, as what you’re choosing HAS to work, and it has to work for YOU.

It can sound great to have to prepare a litany of flavor packed, perfectly nutritionally balanced, fresh, delicious meals that you need to eat multiple times a day.

Or participate in a rigorous training program that will involve early morning sessions and intense workouts.

But if you don’t have the time, mental bandwidth, or energy to keep following your ideal plan for days on end – it’s NOT USEFUL, because it doesn’t actually work.  For you.

So that is all.

Now while, ‘I”, am not a fan of a Vegan diet (though you CAN be a Fat Burner and eat Vegan – we’ve had several people do it) many love this way of eating.

I don’t love it as it’s simply hard to get complete proteins, there are WAY more carbs typically than I’d wish for, and it tends to follow more of a sugar burning structure (many meals eaten frequently) which keeps insulin higher making weight loss harder.

If it’s a diet that makes sense, feels best, aligns with your ethical views (not eating animals), and it is giving you the body that looks, functions, and feels as you desire – GREAT!

But if it’s something that you do/have reached for because it’s SOUNDED good while not actually being sustainable or ultimately giving you what you wanted – it’s not.

Don’t let labels fool you.

Know what you desire.

Evaluate your choices through the lens of YOUR reality and PREFERENCES!

Get educated.

Get GUIDANCE if needed.

And then GO!

There is no judgement or assignment of value based on the lifestyle you choose.

Just make sure it works for you, and it’s getting you want you want.

And if you have been STRUGGLING to figure out a one stop shopping method to get your goals met while even saving you TIME and MONEY – please check out Fat Burning PRO (self study or with one on one coaching).

Keep your sights set on what you want and let everything else that doesn’t serve fall away.

To getting you clearer on how the body works, and how to make it work for you.
