How to Use Protein Best for Weight Loss

Hello Dear One!

If you’ve ever wished to lose weight and thought to cut carbs and turn primarily to PROTEIN and PRODUCE – and you were left wanting…there’s a reason.

PROTEIN IS NOT A GOOD SOURCE OF FUEL.

Protein is a macronutrient that is essential for tissue and hormone creation – but it is not a good source of fuel.

We’re meant to run on either carbs and/or fat – but not protein.

And when we try to use protein for energy we end up feeling depleted, low on energy, and actually at a metabolic disadvantage.

For if our bodies go for long enough without proper fuel – they’ll feel compromised and quite potentially start to tap into muscle for fuel while RETAINING FAT as it feels uncertain as to when it’s next proper energy supply will come.

(I personally did this years ago and it was NOT a pretty sight.)

So what do you do if you want to lower carbs but not have this physiological fallout?

Ultimately by getting you body into a Fat Burning mode (see below), but in the meantime even as a Sugar Burner you can still use protein to your advantage.

(If you’re aiming to keep carbs low but still LOVE sandwiches (like ME)

don’t forget to sub lettuce for the bread from time to time.)

Shining Qualities of Protein:

Protein has the best thermogenic effect of any macronutrient – expending about double the calories as carbs or fat to break down and digest.

Protein helps to stabilize blood sugar therefore making your body release less insulin when you eat.

Protein helps stimulate the release of the hormone GLUCAGON a FAT RELEASING HORMONE.

Protein will also make you more full AT your meal and more full AFTER your meal.

Protein DOES rock – but not as a primary energy source.

So if we have the clarity that cutting carbs would be useful in losing weight (and improving health overall), and we now know that protein isn’t the best source of fuel…

This might be the perfect time to contemplate running on FAT.
